I had an amazing concert experience with Doha Yousri last week, opening for Massar Egbari featuring Ghalia Benali.
We played in a full church for a very supportive audience. The whole experience felt super surreal, and the sound was amazing too! Big thank you to Lagrange Points as well, for allowing us to open for this amazing band! (There will be video of this performance later!) Yo! From mid september to late october I've been doing some cool stuff, and there is more to come...
There's a place in Mechelen called de Floeren Aap where they do monthly open mics. Every open mic they also pick 2 artists that are allowed to play an extended set. I had never been to de Floeren Aap but I got chosen to play the extended set so I was excited for the opportunity. My music was well received by the audience and for the last song I invited my brother to play a jazz standard with me. That was so much fun. There's a video of it too:
Now mid october I had a full solo concert at the amazing cultural bar Lagrange Points in Brussels. They have bi-weekly jam sessions there as well as various cool events. I was super excited to play there and had a great great time. Here are some videos of my performance:
After the concert we held an acoustic jam where we played some jazz and bossa nova tunes! The day after the concert, I went to do a session at Radio Scorpio in Leuven. I got interviewed and played 3 songs. The session will be released in the near future on Radio Scorpio's socials and on their radio show of course 😆 This saturday, I will perform another full concert in Brussels. This time in the wonderful cultural center: Beit asbl.
I will be joined by the amazing egyptian singer Doha Yousri for some Tarab music and bossa nova. There will also be Lebanese food available! I'm super excited for this concert and I will definitely upload some video and audio here on my website. Be sure to keep an eye out for that 😉 The album, Pangea, that's coming out in august, features instrumental ethnic music with messages about nature and unity. The sound is defined by a mix of cultural sounds being played on solo instruments.
I hope you will enjoy it when it's out! I will post some updates on my instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thomas.antonios.music/ For my upcoming album, 'Pangea', I've been looking for cool places to record. One day while browsing google maps, I found an abandoned station called 'Gare Royale d'Ardenne' (royal station of the Ardennes) located in Herhet, close to Houyet. The station looked awesome (I've included pictures later in this blogpost) and I knew I had to check the acoustics there. I documented the whole day with text and pictures for you to enjoy: 13:32 the search continues! Now I'm aiming for a nice isolated place in nature. It's getting harder to walk, definitely because of the beer. I also probably inhaled some of the weedsmoke of the campers through my big-ass nostrils, but I just gotta get through it for a bit!
15/05/2021 I've mixed the audio and synced it with the video. Here's a demo of 'Κατάβαση'! |
